Ultra ShapeXpressThere are a few reasons a ShapeCutter or the ShapeXpress might not be cutting correctly. You may need to adjust your blade - If your shapes are not getting cut out cleanly, you will need to adjust the blade down by turning it slightly clockwise. If your shapes are not getting cut out cleanly because the blade seems to be getting stuck too deep in the cutting mat, you will need to adjust the blade up by turning it slightly counter clockwise. If you are certain that your Cutter is adjusted correctly and it still won't cut cleanly, try a new blade. Most issues with a Cutter can be resolved by adjusting or replacing the blade. With this product it is so easy to try too hard to make it work. It will do the work itself. You just need to apply a little pressure down and push out on the template design you are trying to cut. Sometimes if you press too hard the blade will either get bent or break off. I myself broke 4 blades in a row when I learned how to use mine. I was pushing too hard and not letting the cutter do it's job. The other thing I can suggest is to check out the instruction video on our website. A few more things to check also are, before you actually cut, take the cutter and run it towards you on your cutting mat to make sure the blade is facing the correct direction. You want to put the tip of the blade away from the direction you are cutting from. So, if you are cutting clockwise have the tip of the blade facing away from the way you are cutting. Another thing is to make sure you have the template facing correctly. Make sure you can read the Fiskars logo. This is something simple and easy that I still today will forget. Also, make sure that the blade is not resting on the template there is a little ledge that sometimes can lay on the template and it feels like it is correct but you need to have the cutter resting correctly on the edge next to the blade.
