When It Comes To The Holidays - Run For The Border!

Of course I’m referring to Fiskars Embossing Border Punches! These tools are so versatile and easy to use that you can give everything on your holiday list a little ‘border pizzazz’!  From home décor to gift wrap, greeting cards to bake goods, the only thing missing is your imagination. Fiskars carries straight, circle, and oval border punches and with so many unique shapes to choose from you can try all or a few of these projects to help you start checking off that holiday to-do list right now!  

Small decorated trees are so much fun to add to your holiday décor.  Don’t pay gift store prices though…just grab a Border Punch and create one in no time flat…!  I used a Straight Embossing Border on the edges of 6 paper strips. Next I cut the strips into rectangles and glued them onto a Styrofoam tree cone in an overlapping pattern.  With a few rain dots as ‘ornaments’, this little tree just scored some BIG attitude! 

 

It’s fun to dress up framed photographs around the home as well.   By adding a cardstock mat, and two Embossed Border strips in a contrasting color, a photo takes on a much more dramatic look.  Since glue is applied sparingly, it’s easy to remove the holiday dressing if desired at the end of the season.

 

Embossed Border Punches create the most unique and decorative paper ribbons for all your holiday packages too.  In fact, you don’t even have to wrap the boxes, just punch a strip out of any patterned paper, add to a plain or wrapped gift box and you’ve got a gift ready to go in minutes. And you didn’t have to hunt all over the house for matching ribbon!

 

I keep plain cards and envelopes on hand in case I decide to send a Christmas card to someone long after my original list was mailed. This is where an Embossed Circle Border Punch comes in handy.  I punched out two sizes of contrasting circles, added stickers, a handwritten greeting and this card is complete.  Instead of running to the card store, I’m on my way to the post office. Love that!
