  • Required supplies:
  • Classic No. 8 Scissors
  • placemat - approximately 13" x 18"
  • wool felt - scrap
  • embroidery floss - white
  • ribbon - approximately 40"
  • sewing machine and thread
  • embroidery needle
  • ruler/seam gauge
  • pins
  • hot glue gun

Instructions (Print version)

  1. Fold placemat up (about 5 inches) along one of the long sides to create the pocket.
  2. Pin two 20” ribbons (right sides together) into the top/right side of the folded up flap/pocket.  Stitch both ends of the pocket in place.
  3. Divide the length of the placemat by 3 and stitch two vertical seams through the flap to create three equal size pockets.
  4. Leave the center pocket as is—it will be for paper (you can cut regular copy paper to fit or add a small notebook).
  5. Decide what sort of pens, crayons, markers you would like to store in the two outer pockets.  Stitch through the pocket to create individual storage pockets for these items.
