Instructions (Print version)

1) Cut 6” x 12” piece of Leaf paper.


2) Score at 2”, 4”, 8” and 10”(across) – this will give you 2 - 2” sections on each side and a 4” section in the middle.  Do not fold on score lines yet.

3) At the 2” score (from the left) measure and lightly mark a 1”W x 4”H rectangle on the score line centered from top to bottom.  Use Razor Knife to cut along the top, right & bottom only of pencil lines.  Do not cut the left side which is on the score line.

4) Fold on each of the score lines as shown in sample.  On the left 2” score line do not fold the rectangle section.  This section will be kept flat to support the birthday cake. 

5) Using the Party Texture Plate, emboss 2 front flaps. 

6) Distress edges of card with sandpaper.
To create paper pieced birthday cake:

7) Cut 3 rectangles from patterned paper with the following measurements:
1 ½” x 2 ½” (top), 2” x 3” (middle), and 2 ½” x 3 ½” (bottom).

8) Trim a slight angle from the top of each piece to give the cake layers a whimsical look.

9) Distress edges with sandpaper.

10) Using the Dot Texture Plate, emboss pattern on middle layer

11) Starting with the top section, assemble cake layers (independent from the card) being sure it will cover the support section from the left flap. 

12) Cut a 1/4” x 1” strip from Lobster paper and distress edges to create candle.

13) Cut small flame shape from Tangerine paper, distress edges and adhere to top of candle.

14) Adhere candle to top of cake.

15) Using Scallop Paper Edgers, cut strips from Lobster and the reverse side of Dot paper.  Use these to decorate cake.

16) Tie Orange Gingham ribbon around bottom layer of cake.

17) Adhere Leaf paper to back of entire cake (optional) and trim around edges.  This will add extra support to the paper pieced cake and give it a more finished look on the back.

18) Adhere cake to the support section on the left flap of card.

Inside Card:
19)  Cut 3 ½” x 5 ¼” piece of Lobster paper; distress edges and adhere to inside middle section of card.

20) Print sentiments on white cardstock.  Trim and adhere “celebrate!” to front of card.  Trim inside information and adhere on top of Lobster paper inside card.

21) Using Circle Shape Template and Ultra ShapeXpress cut 3 circles from Cabana Stripe paper, distress edges with sandpaper and adhere to inside right flap of card.
