Cute CoastersClick image to enlarge Designed by: Lisa Falduto I found this darling wooden coaster set at my local craft store and decided I just had to pick it up and create something fun with it! All I kept thinking about when I looked at it sitting there on the store shelf was how well it would go with My Funny Valentine squeeze punches. So into my cart and home with me it went. I decided the perfect line for this set would be the Heidi Grace Sweetest Bug line along with the brand new All A Flutter squeeze punch. When I first looked at the set I wondered how I would alter the coasters to create a surface that could be used with something wet. I decided the only way to go would be to use permanent ink along with the Heidi Grace Sweetest Bug Word stamp set. This was a perfect combination. Read on to see how I created the entire coaster set! Instructions (Print version)
1. Cut strips of paper to fit around the center of the coaster set using your Fiskars Premium Crafters trimmer. I used the Heidi Grace sweetest bug paper. 2. While holding strip around center trace heart on back side of paper and cut out using your Fiskars Fingertip Craft knife. Set this heart shape aside for another step later. Attach these strips to the center lining up cut out hearts so you can see through to the inside of your coaster holder. 5. Stamp on your ribbon using your permanent ink pad, Cloud 9 Border stamps, and Fiskars Stamping block. Attach ribbon around coaster holder. 6. Using your Fiskars My Funny Valentine XL squeeze punch, punch out 4 hearts from the Kimberly Poloson solid purple paper. Use the heart pattern from step #2 as a pattern to trace inside the purple heart and cut out again using your Fiskars Fingertip Craft Knife. You may need to trim the heart down a bit to make it fit the inside the purple punched heart before you trace. 7. Attach your heart pieces to the outside of your coaster holder. This gives your heart window a nice finish. ![]() 10. Now use your Fiskars All a Flutter squeeze punch to punch out 2 butterflies out of the textured pink cardstock. I punched my butterflies so the lines were running vertically. Where the lines are raised apply glue followed by purple glitter. 11. Attach the two butterfly pieces together with liquid adhesive and allow to dry. Then wrap wire around the center of the butterflies using your Fiskars Needle Nose Pliers and twisting at the top to secure. Trim any excess wire using your Fiskars Wire Cutter. 12. Wind the wire around your Fiskars Right Angle tool to create the antennae. Attach this butterfly piece to the top of your coaster holder. Also attach one of the dimensional Sweetest bug embellishments to the lower left front. ![]() 13. Use your Fiskars Compact Stamp Press, Heidi Grace Words stamps, and permanent black ink pad to stamp the design on the front of each coaster.
Lots of fun techniques used on this great little coaster set! Now sit back, set out your coaster, and enjoy a nice cool glass of lemonade!
