Dirty Work

Designer: Stacey Kingman I love using scraps! I made a fun border with scraps and punches on this layout with eleven different patterned papers (all scraps!). Putting this together was so easy with my Fiskars Squeeze Punches...it looks like it took a long time, but you can do this in no time at all!

Instructions
(Print version)
1. Cut an 8”X10” photo down to 6”X10”. Adhere along the right edge of the left piece of cardstock. 2. Trim two photos to 3 ½”X5. Adhere along the left edge of the right piece of cardstock. 3. Trim five photos to 3 ½”X3 ¾”. Adhere as shown with a piece of patterned paper between the ones on the left as shown. Adhere thin patterned paper strips around patterned paper box and machine stitch. 4. Cut a piece of solid cardstock to 3 ½”X10”. Add rub-ons and patterned paper strips. Machine stitch. Adhere 2 ½”X4” photo. 5. Using the Medium Block Party and Large Brick by Brick Squeeze Punches, punch a variety of small squares and rectangles from patterned paper scraps. You will need approximately 90. Lightly adhere these and machine stitch through the center of the border three times. TIP: When placing the patterned paper pieces around the border, isolate the designs containing multiple colors between the patterns that are just one color. This will keep the border from becoming overwhelming. When creating a two-page layout, I like to give the appearance and feel of one large piece rather than two 12X12 layouts put together, and this border really helps that goal along. 6. Adhere title stickers, Dimensional Stickers and Punchboard pieces. TIP: I placed the title directly over a photo that had some white space on it. Since the photos are a little repetitive, I didn’t mind layering the title over an actual picture. 7. Cut a 2 ½”X3” piece of solid cardstock and add handwritten journaling. Adhere inside box. Using the Sewing Multi-Tool, punch holes for handstitching on the journaling block. Punch a few holes throughout the border for some handstitched accents. TIP: Place the layout over a towel (folded once) or mousepad to punch holes.
