doggie wreathClick image to enlarge Designer: May Flaum Our four-legged friends are just as much a part of the family as everyone else, so it makes sense that they get gifts too! I have very fond memories of being a kid and helping my mom make these wreaths for dogs in our lives. Any size bone works- and you can make the wreath pretty much any size or shape. They're still really simple and fun to make, and dogs go wild for them- especially if you make them small and let the dog have the whole thing! Difficulty rating
Instructions (Print version) ![]() important note: I do not use any glue or other substance that would be harmful to a dog since this is for a canine friend. When I present the wreath to a dog (assuming I give whole wreath) I remove the tag and curling ribbon before they can cut loose. 1. Cut strips of fabric (approximately 1 1/2" wide) with pinking shears. note: Only one side will show, so you don't need to use pinking shears on both sides. 2. Cut out your 'wreath' form from cardboard. I used a USX template and traced the heart, then cut out with a craft knife. While I made a heart shape, a circle works perfectly as well. ![]() 3. Wrap a fabric strip around a few times to get some of the cardboard covered, then start by wrapping your first bone. 4. Continue wrapping bones (about 2/3 covered with fabric) around wreath. When a fabric strip ends tuck the end back under (on back), and start new strip. 5. Once all bones are wrapped in place take a thin ribbon (I used curling ribbon) and wrap around the wreath. This adds a decorative touch- totally optional! 6. Finish this lovely project by adding more ribbon at top and attach a tag. ![]() ![]() tag instructions: 1. Punch out the paw punch, then use XL circle squeeze punch to punch circle around. Then punch a second circle and put behind first so that the second color shows through (where paw was punched out). 2. Decorate tag with stickers and attach to wreath.
