This colorful butterfly will brighten up any room or bulletin board.

  • Required supplies:
  • Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold and White Cardstock
  • Glue Stick
  • Tacky Glue
  • 2 Blue Chenille Stems

Instructions (Print version)

1. Butterfly Wings: Cut two yellow gold wings according to pattern. (See below for template.)

2. Texture Paper: Trace sectioned wing patterns on yellow, red and blue cardstock. Place cardstock on stone Texture plate, penciled side up. Texture cardstock. Cut out patterns. Glue textured shapes on butterfly. Cut wing stripes and punch 1/4” and 1/8” holes from blue cardstock. Glue in position on wings according to pattern.

3. Backing color: Glue each wing on yellow cardstock. Trim 1/4” larger all around using straight edge scissors. Glue each wing on blue cardstock. Trim 1/4” larger all around using edger scissors.

4. Cut butterfly body from blue cardstock. (See below for template.) Texture body using the stone plate and texturing tool. Score body side folds. Fold sides to back and adhere with tacky glue. Glue both wings together at center tabs. Glue butterfly body over tabs.

5. Punch two 1/4” white circles for eyes. Glue in position on butterfly head. Punch two 1/8” blue circle pupils. Glue on eyes.

6. Antennae: Wrap a blue chenille stem around a pencil (or crochet hook). Pull wraps off pencil. Squeeze tacky glue in the top of butterfly body opening. Insert the ends of both antennae in head top. Punch four blue 1/4” circles from cardstock. Place a circle on each side of chenille stem end and glue.
