Give That Man a Hand

I love a layout where everything is perfectly balanced. The photos are straight, the title is straight, the journaling typed out on the computer and formatted with the "correct" font size, leading, and kearning, all important technical things I'm too impatient (and unfamiliar with) to take the time to plan and execute. But I also love layouts that are more loosely formatted, with some tension, some irregularities to make the layout interesting. These are the layouts that come easiest to me.

On this layout, I decided to make the layout top heavy by using an over-sized title and stacking elements in the upper right-hand corner while teetering it atop one little stamped element in the lower right-hand corner. The word bubble makes a connection between the two, pulling it all together so that while there are two separate areas of design on that side of the layout, they also work together as one.
The base of my layout has a 2" wide strip of fabric on the left side and a 7" wide strip of patterned paper on the right.
To make my title, I used the ScrapBoss Letter Jacket Stencil as a stencil not to emboss, but as a guide for hand-drawn letters. I used a permanent marker to trace the letters onto a patterned overlay, cut them out using the No. 5 Micro-TipR Scissors. I layered these over hearts cut from fabric and paper using the Hearts Shape Template.
The stamped title was created using the Basic Font Stamp Set and the Compact Stamp Press. The Stamp Press is a wonderful tool for use with letter stamps. There is plenty of room on it to fit several words, making quick work of the job.
Beneath the title I added a strip of paper punched with the Framed in Love Border Corner Punch and the Scallop Sentiment Border Punch.
The stamped of the stick boy beneath the title was made using 1/2 of one of the stamps in the Heidi Grace Valentine's Day stamp set, leaving the girl on the stamp uninked.
And a fun journaling spot using the Bubbles Shape Template and the Ultra ShapeXpress cutting tool.
Adding 2 wallet size photos and another bit of journaling above them finished off my layout, in addition to adding balance to the top-heavy right-side of my layout.
