Rooster Hook Click image to enlarge Designed by: Lisa Falduto Ah, the delicious aroma of freshly brewing Hazelnut cream coffee. I reach for my daily coffee mug which is hanging on this quaint country rooster hook that I altered, fill it up to the brim and taste the wonderful flavors. What a perfect way to start my day with a combination of a crafted item and a nice warm mug of my favorite coffee. Ok, so I am not really a coffee drinker, but I love hot chocolate and hot tea. I must confess when my husband is brewing the coffee I do love the smell when he takes out the Hazelnut cream! I wanted to create this project focused on stamping with one of the brand new stamp sets from Fiskars called "Vintage Farmhouse." Roosters are all the rage right now as kitchen decor and I thought this would be the perfect piece to add to any kitchen. I used 3 stamps from this set within the project including the large background stamp, the rooster, and the longer flourished piece. Difficulty rating
Instructions (Print version) 1. Using your Fiskars Premium Crafters trimmer cut a piece of tan cardstock slightly longer than the area you want to cover. My area measures 2 3/4"x 3 3/4" so I cut my piece of tan cardstock 2 3/4" x 4 1/2". You want to make to cut it longer because once you run it through the crimper that will shorten your length a bit. 2. Now using your Fiskars Compact Stamp press and the large background stamp from Fiskars Vintage Farmhouse set, stamp the background on using your desired ink color.  3. Run the above piece through your Fiskars Paper Crimper lengthwise and then trim the length to fit your area and attach. 4. Cut a 2" circle out of cardstock that coordinates with your ink color from above using the Fiskars Circle cutter. Also cut a 2 1/4" circle from black cardstock again using your Fiskars Circle cutter. 5. Take the first circle you cut in step 4 above and your large background stamp still mounted on the Fiskars Compact Stamp press and use a watermark stamp pad to create a stamped image on your circle. You will only need to use one small section of the large stamp. Now mount this circle on top of the black circle. 6. Using the rooster stamp and your Fiskars Still of the Night High Density Pigment Ink pad create an image of the rooster on tan cardstock. Immediately sprinkle embossing powder on the top of the stamped image and shake off excess. Melt the embossing powder using your heat gun and allow to cool. Cut this image out carefully using your Fiskars No. 5 Micro-tip scissors. Adhere to the layered circles using your Fiskars Foam Squares. Attach your circle piece to the crimped patterned piece.  7. Take out your Fiskars Wire Winder and your Fiskars Design 11 wire winder templates and create 4 corner patterns. Your Fiskars Needle Nose pliers and your Fiskars Wire cutters will assist you with winding the wire and then trimming excess ends. Attach these to the 4 corners of your printed and crimped cardstock. 8. Next I removed the cup hook from the plaque and stamped the long flourished image from the Fiskars Vintage Farmhouse stamp set and my permanent black stamp pad. Then I attached the hook again to the plaque. 9. Attach a patterned ribbon around the outside edge of the main design area. I used a gingham ribbon that coordinated with the colors I have already used. 10. Next I used my Fiskars Easy Squeeze Glue Gun to attach some ruffled ribbon around the outside edge of the plaque. 11. I finished off my decorative hook plaque with some ribbon tied around the top of the hook.  You can see from this project how stamping is an easy way to create your own patterned paper for any project! I also love using the paper crimper to add texture and dimension to my projects. You can create so many projects that will coordinate beautifully by using this one stamp set. Think of the possibilities for your kitchen!
