iphone case

Designer: Lisa Truesdell This simple fabric case keeps my iPhone from getting scratched when I throw it into my purse, and it’s a major style upgrade from those available in stores. A pocket in the back holds my headphones, and I’ve sized it to fit my phone while it’s in the hard plastic case I use to protect it from major impact. I love how fabric can customize this project to fit any personality!
Note : You can modify these measurements to fit any size phone or music player. Measure your phone and add .75-1in to each measurement, depending on how snug you’d like the case to be. Then use those measurements as a guide to cutting your fabric.

Instructions
(Print version)

1. Using your Comfort Grip rotary trimmer, trim your lining fabric to 4inx11.75in. 2. Trim your outer fabric. You’ll need two pieces that measure 4x6in, and two that measure 4x1.5in. 3. Trim your accent fabrics to 1.5x4in. 4. Stitch the five strips that measure 1.5x4in (the 2 from the outer body fabric and your three accent fabrics) together using a .25in seam allowance. Iron the finish strip and trim it to 4x6in if your seam allowances were off at all. 5. Apply iron on interfacing to a small scrap of your lining fabric. 6. Use a Round N Round M Squeeze punch to punch a circle from scrap paper, and use it as a guide to cut 3 circles from the fabric. 7. Cut the circles in half. 8. Attach the half circles above and below your accent fabrics to create a scalloped border. Zigzag stitch along the seam. 9. Fold one piece of 4x6in outer body fabric in half and iron along the crease. Stitch along the crease to hold it in place. 10. Lay the folded piece of fabric on the remaining 4x6in fabric, both with their right sides up. Lay the 4x6in panel of strips that we created in step 4 on top, right side down. Stitch along the bottom seam, using a .25in seam allowance. 11. Lay your lining fabric, right side up, on your table. Add your length of ribbon, with the length running down the fabric, to the middle of the top short side. Lay your outer fabric on top, right side down, with the decorative strips at the bottom. Pin the two layers together. 12. Stitch around all four sides, leaving a small gap so you can flip your fabric right side out.
 13. Flip the fabric and iron all of the seams flat. 14. Fold the fabric in half and stitch up either side. Be sure to backstitch at the beginning and end of each side to reinforce the seam. 15. Add a button to the front of the case.
