October 2009 Layout Sketch

This simple sketch is one of my favorite go to designs. A beautifully punched frame contains the photos and journaling, and simple punched embellishments can be switched out to match any theme. I used warm autumn colors and punched leaves to accent this layout about my favorite part of fall.

1. Cut a scrap piece of cardstock to 8.75x8.75in and attach to the middle of your white cardstock with temporary adhesive. Use yellow spray ink around the edges of the layout.
2. Trim red floral patterned paper to 10in x10in. Punch the sides and corners with the Lattice and Lace corner punch.
3. Using the fingertip craft knife and a straight edge, cut out the center of the red floral patterned paper and create a frame.
4. Attach the red patterned paper frame to the center of your white cardstock.
5. Add 2 4x6 photos to the top half of the page.
6. Use the Scallop Sentiment border punch on a strip of text paper. Attach to the bottom of your frame opening.
7. Use letter stickers to spell out the title. Stitch through the stickers.
8. Punch a leaf from the woodgrain cardstock using the Sweet Maple Squeeze Punch and add to the middle of the title using foam adhesive.
9. Journal in the space around your title.
10. Punch 2 leaves from the text paper, and then use the Round N’ Round XL Squeeze Punch to punch circles around the negative from the leaf punch. Punch 2 circles from woodgrain paper.
11. Layer the text paper circles over the woodgrain circles. Attach with foam adhesive. Add the circles to the left and right of your photos. Ink around the edges of the circles with brown ink to give them a bit of definition.
12. Tie string to the center of green buttons. Attach to your page as shown.
