Lovely card and bag

With the holidays coming, I have made it my mission this year to doing almost everything handmade and from the heart…and that includes the gift wrap!
As much as I try to recycle year after year, sometimes the paper gift bags become a little too worn out. I have a huge stash of fabric remnant, felt pieces ..and well of course paper, so this year I will be creating simple fabric bags embellished with paper & ribbons to package up and give out cookies, home baked breads and homemade ornaments in.

1. Start by cutting a piece of scrap denim with pinking shears to measure 5 ½ x 6 ½. Use the 12in1 seam ripper to help create a fringe.
2. Stamp a Heidi Grace “heart” onto a piece of paper, scan in and copy enlarging the image by 300% to create a paper pattern. Cut out pattern, spin to dark red felt and cut out 1 heart. Set aside.
3. Tear 1 strip of denim to approx. 1 ¼ x 6 ¼” long. Fray edges. Stamp & emboss the words “with love” along the upper edge of the denim strip. Set aside.
4. Stamp the word “love” on a piece of kraft color cardstock, cut to approx. 2 ½ x 1 ¼ with pinking shears, ink edges and adhere to a handing manila tag.
5. Lay the denim panel on a flat surface lay the “with love” strip across bottom and stitch with machine, or by hand. Hand stitch on 2 small coordinating buttons in-between words.
6. Place large red felt heart in middle of panel and stitch around entire image, leaving approx. 1/2 “ opening. Stuff heart with cotton batting or cotton balls with 12in1 “poker” Stitch remaining opening closed.
7. Cut a piece of red & cream gingham fabric to measure approx. 6” x 24”. Fold in half and iron flat to create a crease. The crease will act as the bottom of you bag. Open up the fabric and place the denim heart panel in the center of what will be the front of your bag. Pin in place and stitch around all four sides of panel to gingham fabric.
8. Trim any hanging threads, turn bag inside out and stitch up left & right hand side to create a bag. Trim threads and turn right side out.
9. Trim top of bag with pinking shears.
10. Using two decorative straight pins, attach manila hanging “love tag” to center of puffy red felt heart. Tie strings of hanging tag to pins to secure and add an additional coordinating ribbon to pins.
11. Place cookies, beverage bottle, home baked goodies in bag and tie top of bag closed with jute twine.
  Create a coordinating Card
1. Start with a pre-cut kraft cardstock measuring 5 ½ x 6.
2. Cut another piece of denim to measure 4 x 4 ½ with pinking shears. 
3. Using the stamp press, arrange multiple words and phrases to create a “box” leaving a small area to adhere a felt heart and stamp onto a kraft cardstock measuring approx. 3 1/3 x 3 ¾. Trim with pinking shears and machine stitch denim panel.
4. Using the same stamp & scan paper pattern technique as directed above, cut a small red heart out of felt to go in the open area of your word “box.” Glue into place.
5. Adhere kraft piece to denim piece and stitch around all edges of kraft stamped piece, inserting a small piece of coordinating piece of ribbon to upper left hand corner prior to finishing the machine stitch
