I have always liked scrapbooking. Ok, maybe not always, but it sure seems that way. I've collected bits and pieces of ephemera as long as I can remember and have true "scrap" books since early high school. But it is only recently that I have discovered a love of card making. For the longest time it was hard for me to convert my passion for scrapbooking to other paper crafting forms, but once I figured out that card making was almost like scrapbooking in miniature, a new love of mine was born! I especially like to do paper piecing on my cards. I love the playful, funky look it can give and the fun I have doing it.

So today we're going to use our Fiskars tools to paper piece! Let's get started!

Instructions (Print version)

1. First, make the "grass" by punching two 3" strips of carstock in different shades of green with the Upper Crest punch.

2. Using your micro-tipped scossors, cut into the punched strips to fringe them.

3. Using your fingers, crumple the fringe so that it gets a bit more dimensional.

4. Layer the two strips on top of each other and adhere. Add the "scrap" pieces of punched paper to the bottom of the green strip for extra flair, if desired.

5. Trim away excess on bottom of grass strip.

6. Using the circle cutter, cut a 3 1/2" circle out of the BasicGrey Tee Time paper approximately 1" down from the top and centered left to right.

7. From the back, place the grass you just made at the bottom of the circle and secure with adhesive.

8. From the back, cover the remaining portion of the circle with white cardstock, then turn the Tee Time paper over.

9. Using foam dots, adhere Tee Time piece to the cardstock base.

10. Cut 3 then strips of green cardstock to use as flower stems and adhere to card as shown.

11. cut a couple of leaf shapes and add to stems as desired.

12. Punch a 1" circle out of hot pink cardstock. Cut into the circle from the edge (careful not to cut all the way through) and then tear away every other fringe so that it resembles a sun. add this to the left flower stem and place a button in the middle.

13. Add a cute decorative button to the 2nd stem.

14. Out of cardstock scraps (I prefer double sided cardstock - 2 different shades of the same color), punch a large and extra large seal of approval scallop circle.

15. Using your micro-tipped scissors, cut into the scallop circle to create "petals."

16. Using your fingers, curl or crumple the petals into the center of the "flower."

17. Layer the large circle on to the extra large circle and secure with a button and floss.

18. Add flower to the last stem on your card.

19. Add a tag that says "you!" to the flower stem with floss.

20. Print out "If friends were flowers, I'd pick you." onto white cardstock. Round the left corners with the corner rounder and secure to card with brad.

21. Cut cloud shape from blue cardstock scrap. Add to upper left corner of card as shown with foam dots. Finish up card with any penwork detail as desired.
