Santa's Bag

One holiday tradition we have in our home is to receive a new set of Christmas PJs and pair of fuzzy socks on Christmas Eve. It’s one of those little things we all look forward to each season. Sometimes I wrap them, but this year I thought it would be cute to roll them up and put them into these little Santa bags. Fiskars Rotary Cutter made cutting the fabric pieces a breeze. And the decorative Pinking blade added a fun look to the gift tag. I look forward to using them again and again.

Instructions
(Print version)
1. Cut 2 – 3”H x 8 ½”W pieces of fabric (stripe). These will be the casings for the ribbon/cord to tie the bag. 2. On each end fold ¼”; press with an iron and stitch. 3. Fold each piece in half along the length; press with an iron; for each piece stitch ¼” along the top of the folds. 4. Set these 2 pieces aside.

5. Cut 2 – 9”W x 18”H pieces of fabric. These will make up the base of the bag. Note: If you are using material with words, cut 4 separate pieces of fabric and align fabric so that words will be right side up both inside and outside the bag. 6. On each end fold ¼”; press with an iron and stitch. 7. Place 2 pieces of fabric together (right sides out) and fold in half to create a 9” x 9” square with the fold at the bottom. Pin along both sides of the bag leaving the top inch open. 8. Take each casing and sandwich it between the top layers of the bag – 1 on each side; pin in place. Be sure to leave enough room open in the casing to fit your ribbon or cord.

9. Stitch ¼” along the top edges of the bag to secure the casings in place. 10. Now stitch along each side of the bag. 11. To make the bottom of the bag sit flat, take the bottom corner of the bag and press the corner flat creating a triangle. Pin and stitch 1 – 1 ½” from the point of the triangle. Backstitch to reinforce. 12. Turn the bag right side out and use safety pin the feed ribbon through casings to create drawstring closure.

13. Use Rotary Cutter decorative blade to cut tag from felt; punch a small hole for ribbon to attach tag to bag; and embellish with decorative chipboard.
