Sparrow Art CanvasClick image to enlarge Designer: Janna Wilson My quilting tools are probably the most essential items in my crafting tool box. I really don’t know HOW I did ANYTHING before I had them. And the cool part is that these tools are so handy for so much MORE than just quilting! Creating projects like this canvas project are a breeze when you can quickly and precisely cut fabric with ease using the large cutting mat, rotary cutter and large acrylic ruler. For just about $5, I designed and assembled this canvas inspired by one of my favorite hymnals. Difficulty rating
Instructions (Print version) 1. Cut the following pieces of fabric with rotary cutter: ![]() NOTE: When using ink jet transfer, remember that any of the transfer paper that is not printed on will transfer as well…so cut away as much as possible and know that this excess will be visible after the transfer is made especially when using colored fabrics. I generally use white so I don’t have to worry about this. 5. Zig zag stitch around the white cotton square (I used a turquoise blue thread for a little pop of color) and then wrap the cotton square around the canvas and staple to secure.
6. Add a wire embellishment for the bird “perch.” Work wire with Right Angle tool to create a curly Q design. Attach the wire piece to the canvas with small wire staples (create from a small gauge wire and puncture/pierce through the canvas to hold the wire accent in place). ![]() 7. Color over the wire piece where the bird’s foot is located with a black sharpie. Hang and enjoy!
